Samaritan

I used to think that friends I knew well wouldn't let me down. But I was wrong. Once we needed a help and a friend that my husband knew well said I would help....but at the end, she demanded more in terms of money. Finally, I found a person that I knew from the internet was more willing to help with no regards of money...I just disbelieved that I met a Samaritan...till today she is my friend though we never met in person. Another Samaritan was my neighbour who helped me to open the locked KANCIL car door, my toddler was inside the car. Recently, when I fetched the eldest, An from school and Ai was often asleep in the car. Mom of An's friend, Xin Yi, offered her help...saying that she didn't mind to fetch An from school together with her daughter...what a nice offer she made. I do believe that there are Samaritans out there who are willing to help.

Enrich Learning Through Play

My kids love to do art things and drawings...and I kept their artworks...sometimes their drawing became images of my FB or wallpaper of my handphone. So I finally created a group in Facebook "Enrich Learning Through Play" and also "Enrich Learning Through Play" blog. Oh yes, it is not solely my own blog, readers may post any relevant articles or precious moments of your child play and learn but inform me in advance. I also post some FUN activities and welcome your contribution as well.

Moon & Her Great Freebies For Moms

I met Moon, a friendly mom entrepreneur from Facebook. She said "Hi" by the time I joined her group and added me as a friend. She showed appreciation to her readers/followers by replying to every comment. I definitely learn "the tips for networking" from her. And she is generous to share her freebies for other moms :

Mother's Day Card

Look, what Ai brought home today. It's a mother's day card and I got a hug from her. She is just learning to write sentences. She likes to draw and makes cards in heart-shape cut till colour pencils and A4 paper are gone very fast.

Mothers in My Life

I always love my birth mum. I wish that I could stay with her longer during my childhood. I really missed her when I was young. At 10, I left the comfort of home to pursue my ambition to study in a big city. I was determined to stay in the city though life was not easy. I had to stay with uncle and auntie because their home was near the school. There were 6 kids in the house, 4 of them were their children. My auntie worked from home. The house was crowded with the kids and the customers who came by. Once the food was served, they were gone instantly, then I was sometimes hungry. My auntie was actually a jovial person, a great story teller when she was in good mood and she was a great cook. When I joined a Christian camp, I wrote and sent love letters. One of them was for my auntie. She felt touched, shed tears when she read it.

Then, I stayed with my grandmother during the upper secondary or senior school because the school is near from my grandma's home. I just sensed that my grandma didn't like me. Luckily, I went out almost all day, went to school, then tuition or extra curricular.

The most wonderful years, I spent with my sister during university years. Though she is only 3 years older, she is much mature and we had fun things to do together. I had stayed with her till I left for marriage. I missed her very...very much.

Lastly, the mother that I can always see and visit on weekends is my mother in law. It was hard in the beginning to adapt ourselves. We learned somehow and she is wonderful too like my birth mum and my sis. She speaks more English and Malay todays because of me and the kids.

How I wish that I have my mum and sis live nearby. I only visit them in 7 to 10 days every year and those days are so precious.

Having lived with different families and being a mother, I would prefer that the children stay with me till their secondary school. Though my eldest stay with my MIL, she always comes back on weekends and we have fun time together. To all Mothers, Happy Mother's Day ! Being a mother is a noble job.

Roti Bakar, Burnt To Death Roti

Who likes the dead roti like this ? I bet none, it's supposed to be thrown into the trash bin. I just found out the bakery selling the black bread when I passed by Jalan Besar, Gunung Rapat, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia and saw the banner "BLACK DIAMOND BREAD, the healthy bread". Charcoal is used to bake this bread. Charcoal is known to help indigestion but the owner said it would help detoxify and there were other benefits for health as well. They sell them plain, with filling or with topping. People mostly bought their charcoal or dead bread. It tasted good and soft even I ate the plain black bread. Warning: Don't present it as Birthday cake or Mother's Day cake, or you will be scolded.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This is the most FUN book. My kids love it very much. It is also a kind of science book, how to explain a caterpillar turns into a cocoon then a beautiful butterfly. The story is:
In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf.
One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and -pop!-out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.
He started to look for some food.
One Monday he ate through one apple. But he was still hungry.
The story goes on from Tuesday to Friday, when he ate different kinds of fruits (each fruits has a hole size of finger tip, it looks like the caterpillar has eaten each of them). The child learns counting the fruits 1 to 5. Then on Saturday, the caterpillar became greedy to try different kinds of food like cheese, ice cream, chocolate cake till he had stomachache. He ate one green leaf on Sunday, then he felt much better. He was a big fat caterpillar and took a long sleep in the small house built, called a cocoon. After more than 2 weeks, he nibbled a hole and pushed his way out and ....he was a beautiful butterfly.
